So when i connect my ipod in the usb, and it charges, BUT when i want to load music into it, it wont let me because IT doesnt say do not disconnect, it keep charging, and then i try to go to update my ipod...but it wont let me becasue the word is gray...HOW CAN I FIX THIS?????????

can anyone tell me how to prevent my ipod from charging when i plug it into the USB?

It automatically will charge if u hook it up to the computer. when u hook it up does ur computer recognize it as "IPOD"??? if not u need to restore the iPod to it's original settings and start all over. That's what I had to do.
I had to do a full restore using the Apple updater. Update was greyed out for me too.

I can tell you're having a lot of problems.....the biggest is probably you voting for bush....

when u installed the software from the disc ur iPod came with, now goto
Start>All Programs>iPod>iPod Updater ##-##-##>iPod Updater ##-##-##.
