So it's been said that AAC files are smaller in file size than MP3's. Is the size difference significant? I'm about to rip all my CD's, and am wondering if I'll really save all that much space by going to ACC. I like the portability of MP3 files.
Can anybody offer any insight?

Why is the subject AAC vs iPod?
Eh, anyway, yes AAC generally saves space compared to Mp3 files. So if you have a small HD/limited space then I would recommend using AAC; otherwise stick with the much more widley used and standardized Mp3 format.

I have read in many places that the quality of AAC is superior, also. I am unable to confirm if that is true though. I simply don't give a damn either way.

I'd just rip to 192kb VBR MP3s. You save space without losing quality.

That's a good point. You can maintain compatibility, yet keep the size condense. At 192kb, you're not likely to notice much of a degradation anyway...
