so i got my free ipod less than a month ago, and over the weekend it was stolen from my bedroom by someone at a party that my roommates where holding at my apartment while i was not here..
is there anythign i can do? like, maybe does apple have some way of letting me report the serial number and so whenever the person that stole it connects it to itunes it gets disabled or something? cry
i have already gone through the shock and anger stages, and now i'm just sad. =\ i put so much effort into this freeipods thing

1.) Kick your roomates a$$ for letting people go into your room
2.) Get a lock for your door
3.) You could get a police report taken but in the end not much would come of it probably.
4.) I suppose you didn't have renter's insurance? Even if you did the deductible may be too high.
5.) Maybe have your parents sign up or something and try to get referrals all over again (we're opening a new conga soon, i won't post the link but you could be #3 on it probably).
Sorry to hear that though. Unfortunately, I doub there's anything apple could do at this point. Or even the law for that matter since it's probably just some other college kid that took it and not some burglar that they may catch later.

Roomates are blilililies... I am so glad I don't have one anymore. Mine wasn't all that bad, though.

Yeah... further justification to invest in a small safe or lock box for small valuables, such as the iPod. Sure, it may seem dorky, but these folks would still have their beloved iPods.
My friend had a $500 watch stolen in a similar manner. My biggest concern was why in the hell he paid that for a watch. lol wink

my roommates pretty much didn't care.. they said noone was in my room.. but that's a lie, since it's gone and i tore everything apart looking for it .. i keep it in the same exact spot on my desk
i share this room (generic crowded college apartment) so its not like i can lock the door and keep the other guys out.. i don't know what to do, but my roommates don't care. i'm just upset, i feel violated. i want it back. i haven't even had it a month...
i can't make my roommate pay because he takes no responsibility, and it's hard enough getting him to cough up his part of the bills yet alone get him to pay up for this.. especially since he says noone was in here
i guess i'm just screwed.. this sucks cry

Take them to civil court and try moving to a different place. Try talking to the Super/Manager about getting out of your personal lease( justify it with roomates responsible for item theft) and find a better place before you start all this.

heh i liamli under my bed. my bed is lofted, i got my desk underneath it. i don't know, i may have an idea of someone who might have taken it, but i have no proof to go accusing people .. just sucks because i spent all of july trying to get referalls, finally got stv on 8/6 and waited like 6 weeks to finally get it.. and now its gone
i was already shocked, then angry, and now.. just sad. wish i had my ipod back. i loved it. damn..
did u put any marks on your ipod which distinguished your ipod from others.. ?

I knew this one guy who had a brick of gold stolen from his dads office, I forget what his dads job was but he had a brick of gold missing from his office when he left for the weekend....no joke

That's rough. You should definitely see what it'll take to get out of that situation. Unfortunately, many folks aren't mature even by college. Sometimes it isn't entirely their fault. They probably were just raised by parents that didn't teach respect for others. Unfortunately that's a common thing these days. I guess all you can really do is have faith that one day this guy's stupidity and lack of concern for others will hopefully get him screwed over himself.

if anything you should make a police report it never hurts to have that type of stuff on paperwork for future reference and you could try contacting apple and just report it stolen to them incase someone tries to bring it in for service or something of that matter. i doubt they would be able to disable it if they connected with itunes.. besides they could use different types of programs to upload songs onto it..
anyways sorry for your loss (

thanks for all the replies guys. at least i know that not everyone is an asshole.. i'm getting over it, but still upset. oh well.. i guess i'll have to move on.. there's no way i can afford to buy an ipod on my budget though..
maybe ill ask for one for christmas or something..
