Best way to get music on your ipod?

i hope ill get my ipod, and i really dont wanna use iTunes. So i was wondering if i have win XP does it just recognize the ipod when i plug it in, and i can just drag and drop the mp3s? or do i have to use some program, if i have to use a pragram whats the best one other then iTunes?

someone that already HAS their ipod and has expirience please answer this

chyeck out the ipodpodlounge.com They have a review for the new Windows Software. (Anapod?) It adds a iPod to the explorer.

you have to use a program, because the way the ipod works is really fucked up, its seems like they randomly throw songs into hidden files. There is probably an order to it, but i don't know. I recommend itunes, i use it now with my 15GB, it works well, and if you have a decent computer it runs great, i have an 800MHz p3, with 256 ram and it runs well.

wha'ts wrong with iTunes? its by far better and sleeker looking than anything out there, WiMP10 isn't that bad either but it still seems primitive compared to how well iTunes gathers and organizes music....
