I refreshed my FreeDesktopPc.com site and the layout had changed a bit. And then a logo on top with the "Freepay.com" text was on it. I didn't notice it before? I went to it and it appears to be another new site. It seems to be part of Gratis because it still has the Gratis button at the bottom.

Info?

It looks like Gratis has changed their name to FreePay. Check out the "What is FreePay" section.

what does this mean? Do i already have an account on their or something? Isn't the same as the Gratis sites? It says you don't pay, but u subsribe to something...so, u do pay?

it means nothing they probably wanted a more trendy name. Not everyone associates Gratis with it's meaning of free.

damn they changed all the links to subdomain.freepay.com which is a pretty good idea. The old urls still work (at least for now). Too bad they still dont offer the color ipod. lolz

Also notice how the referral names have changed. It's (site).freepay.com/r?=blahblah

Not sure if I like that.

agreed. The name change really was not needed, in my opinion. I think it's just gonna cause more confusion among the nubs.

I agree. It looks like a sister site to gustonetwork, or the Peel sites with the subdomain. Makes it look scammish I think (even tho i know they arnt).

well, than again. When a friend of your sign up, before they can choose the many offers in the upper banner, but now, they have to rely on referrals to sign up, so in way, its helpful to us

Not to diss the Network, but I think "Freepay" sounds cheesy. I think "Gratis" sounded much more professional...

Strike

Freepay sounds like one of those lame telemarker companies.

It's called foreshadowing. wink

I think they should bring back the more sites button at the top. That was how I went through all the sites checking for greens in rapid succession. Now I'm going to have to type them in manually.

Yeah, that's true, but my favorites list won't look as nice as the list of sites they had appear when you rolled over that button. I guess that's the price of progress.

theysayjump

18-08-2005 22:26:07

oh i know, even though i have them all on my faves, the rollover (beethoven) was handy.

I liked how on the Gratis Site they had the drop down box on the upper right hand cornor of all their sites.

stoogepid

19-08-2005 00:59:20

Me too I like the Gratis name much better. I guess I can get used to Freepay.

emailjwr

19-08-2005 05:27:09

ya gratis is definitely better in my opinion ... especially cuz gratis was probably chosen from the french word 'gratuit' (meaning free of course), and now freepay, as someone said, sounds lame and scam-ish

Phbs83

19-08-2005 05:48:11

I liked Gratis more too, but anyway)

On a side note, emailjwr, Gratis [b758f666aff]is[/b758f666aff] a word, and it doesn't come from gratuit. Gratis is a word in Romance languages & Germanic languages to name a few, means indeed "free", but is in no way derived from the word gratuit.

emailjwr

19-08-2005 07:55:40

ahh cool i didn't know that ... and since french is one of the romantic languages (derived from latin i think), it's probably the case that gratuit came from gratis

Keep in mind that we haven't changed the way we do business, its just our image that has undergone an overhaul. The company is still essentially the same.

We are always striving to improve our business and to evolve in a changing business environment and this is a step in the refinement of our business model.

In my opinion (and you don't have to agree with me), this is a step in the right direction.

I personally couldn't care less whats it's called. As long as I get free items.

Hopefully they can figure out a way to actually credit people in the amount of days they actually say they will. D Just joking around.

Oh, and I noticed the "Freepay" or whatever site has a brand new completely different layout. Now it looks like a really big company...
