Small update from Gratis

I just had a quick e-mail conversation with Gratis.. I'll sum it up (also drawing from previous e-mails with them) for those who don't want to read through it.

Basically, all of our orders were sent to Apple in one big bunch. There's no rhyme or reason to the shipping -- HP folks aren't being set aside and held till last, it's not by region, state, or last name. Basically he said to sit tight, they're shipping out.

the standard "you should have your free item within 2 weeks" answer.
I realize that you don't have time to look into every order, but I
really would appreciate it if you could give me any insight as to when
I could expect to see my iPod.

You will literally see shipping on your iPod any day now. Apple is
processing several thousand orders and while there is no way to specify the
exact order of this, your iPod will be going out to you. When this occurs
you will be provided with the FedEx tracking number and should see the iPod
in a week. We understand you have been waiting and are wondering where it
is each day, but please listen to us and not some chat room regarding your
order.

Haha.. you know, they probably are getting slammed with people complaining that they heard such-and-such date shipped, and they want to know why theirs hasn't yet.

Yeah, they managed to be slightly vague as usual, but at least we know that all the orders are with Apple.

Pallers Yes, basically all that we know for SURE from it, is that ALL the orders are with Apple (not with eCost or other vendors), and that Apple is shipping them out randomly.

I bet early august (8/17s ) are going to get bent over the table and we will hit 3 months before we see our ipods .

Will this include minis??

I think Gratis are a group of S&M freaks who get off torturing us with little nuggets of info.

Can they never be direct and say, "yes, your shit is on the way. Here is your tracking number."

Bastards. Just kidding! Maybe.

harry's chat...which wasn't a hoax. He did say the backorders would be shipped within the coming 2 weeks (which is going on right now)
