How I got referalls: Tips

I recently got my iPod and since I'm finished I thought I'd say what I did and used to get everything completed. I would really incourage anyone else who has finished to say and explain how they got there referalls. Hey, were done, lets help some other people too ).

1. Classifieds- These work great, just post a ad in a free stuff or electronics section. craigslist.org is VERY active and I got at least 20 signups through them. They crackdown hard though, and are not as good of a resource as they once were (which sucks ;/). Do a google search for classifieds and just post to all the sites on the first few pages. It's worth it.
2. Forums- Find ones with nice people ;), who don't mind referall links. If there is a small board were you and a few friends hangout and you know it's ok use that. People you know (who aren't 13) are great resources.
3. Friends/Family- If your not known as a total idiot in your family try to convince them. Alot of times realitives will do it just to humor you (as long as you are the one who actually signs them up).
4. Software- I'm not actually sure if this helped, but I lithinkli it did. There are alot of semi-bs software out there to help you promote sites. Alot of times companies try to sell you it, but you can generally find copies of them for free as they float around the net alot. Try filemirrors.com or your favorite p2p client.

Wait... what is the point of giving links to threads were people were asking for referall help and never got it?

the classified section is a good idea.
even better if you can shorten the link and/or use redirect.

such as http//freeipod.makeitstop.org or http//www.makeitstop.org/freeipod/
(doesnt actualy redirect, or even work, its strictly an example)

could set it up usin the top level domain as well, hosting is cheap and domains are like $15 a year.

i have my own domain to host images, but i mainly use it for Email.
sure as hell beats the free online email services, and most of the paid services.
i can make up any email address i want using my domain. )


you could even set up the classified ad with an email address like
email==freeipod@makeitstop.orgfreeipod@makeitstop.org=freeipod@makeitstop.orgfreeipod@makeitstop.org/email
and set up an auto responder to respond to the person with your referal link and some freeipod info if you want.

whatever i have my own method that gets me appr. 3 yellows a day (no greens, haha)

Ya, I should have added the domain shorterners. I used ipod.alturl.com (which also gives you tracking stats so you can see which of your sites worked well) and flatscreen.vze.com. I also have ipodz.info and flatscreenz.info. Looks much better to people registering.
