I got 5 people from work to help me get my freeipod. I submitted for approval and then today I found that all 5 of them were denied and put on hold. How do we find out what the reason for the hold was and clear it up? I'm not sure if the problem was that we have the same IP address because of our work network or if our work email addresses look too similar. I'm kind of frustrated that I followed the rules and they all got denied.

there's the fault in it right there.

DONT SHARE YOUR REF LINK WITH ANYONE WHO WILL OR COULD HAVE THE SAME IP ADDRESS AS YOU. if you share your ref link with coworkers, email it to their personal (not work) address and stress heavily that they can only click on it AT HOME. i didnt share my ref link with coworkers for this very reason.

same ip = fraud.

they think you're doing all the refs yourself from the same computer, even though that may be far from the truth.

you can try explaining this to Gratis, and they may be nice and validate your account, but dont hold your breath.

I'm sure glad I read this forum enought to realize I would get shafted if I did the same thing. I make my coworkers do it from home )

Yeah well I checked with the Computer Ops and each of the computers here has a unique (although similar) IP address. So it's not an IP issue.

I'm sure on the LAN they all have unique IP b/c they must, but on the WAN (the internet) there probably is only 1 IP out to the net, maybe 2 or 3 or more even if it is a very large company, but I can assure you that the ip's out the internet of each computer will be repeated.

Sorry the picture got a little blurry but it's a screenshot and it was quick work. I hope this makes sense.

For example. I have a LAN at home that shares one internet connection. Everything that happens on the internet side only sees 1 ip address coming from my router/gateway, however any data transfer that occurs behind the router/gateway on the LAN needs that unique IP for each computer, and the router takes care of literally routing data packets to the proper IP, but when you or your buddy down the hall makes a request to the internet, it looks like it is coming from the same place based solely on IP because it is all going out to the internet through the same router.

So basically what happened is Gratis logged the IP of your router out to the internet. Well it was the same for each of your coworkers and you at work, thus you're on hold.

That seems wrong, you probably all have unique (private) network addresses, but use the same IP address through NAT (firwall/router). Though your actual machine have different IPs, your internet visible IP's are the same.

Go to http//www.whatismyip.com and have your coworkers go there as well. That will tell you if you have the same IP on the internet.
