Does someone need to be home when IPOD delivered

Do you (or anybody else) need to be home to sign something when Fed Ex brings the package or will they just leave it at your door?

any human that lives at the residence is fine

so somebody actually needs to be home??

i saw an ipod order on the fedex site and it said it was left at the door (no one home)

they might leave it, but i heard that apple has a contract or something that it cannot be picked up or left. There was a thread about it.

Hmmm....i really wouldn't like my ipod sitting on the door for hours with no supervision whatsoever =/

Well how are you supposed to know when Fed Ex comes... cuz I live in a private gated community and I wouldn't mind packages being left at my door (we've had valuable stuff shipped before and just left at our door via UPS) and I have school and my parents have work.. BLEH I'm worried that if they NEED someone to sign and they keep missing someone, they'll just have to keep coming back every day and we'll keep missing them and then it will take forever to get the pod.

Relax, if no one's home and they can't drop it, they'll leave a tag on your door letting you know that they came, and with instructions on how/where to pick it up at one of their facilities.

Don't u have like a guard who can receive it for you and sign if needed?

No..there's an electronic gate but no physical human being guard.. it's like an apartment or condo where you dial in the call box and the party presses 9 to open the gate. Fed Ex, UPS, mailmen and women, etc all have remotes to open the gate.

oh well. it's still gonna be a long while til I really have to worry about all this (STV 10/13) but i'm just concerned.

Once you get your tracking number, just call up FedEx and request to schedule a pick-up

funny thing... box said "do not deliver if no one home" or whatever... but it was on my doorstep... good ol' fedex...

they WILL drop it off if the owner of your house has signed a paper for fedex saying that they can leave packages at the doorstep. Some people get tons of packages and cant be home for all of them so they tell fed ex to leave them all at the door. However, if no one has signed the paper for fedex before, then they wont leave it

FedEX will leave it at the door unless Delivery Confirmation is required from the sender, in which case they'll leave a tag on your door saying that they'll try and drop it off once again at a stated time. If your not home at that time, you'll have to goto the station and pick it up.

yea , you can do that, like "leave it behind the bushes, or behind the screen door or somthing,ive done that. Also, remember to sign the note, and put the date you wrote it. maybe he will take it for "evidence" if you state you never recived it or somthing...

Probably. I remember when I called fed ex one of the options was "Delivery Time". I'm thinkin maybe you could call them and tell them not to deliver it until after a certain time.
