I know a lot of people who have asked about this and feel like they have to forfeit sound quality for the convenience of listening to their ipod in their car.

i was reading sync and came across this...

it's $99 but you can save $50 if you buy it with certain alpine heads

The issue was the loss of quality over FM Transmitter. I'm sure people are aware they could use this fine.

looks good. kinda a gimick but not bad. alpine also makes VERY good quality head units. great deal if you're planning on getting a new head unit.

The new BMWs have iPod holders. They're sweet.

Do you mean the new ipod hookup you can get to your car for additional money? If so, I believe that goes in the glove compartment...

I've got the Audia X FM transmitter, and the sound from my portable cd player sounded just like it was playing off a radio station.

I meant that it wasn't staticy or anything. So in a way it is better than a radio station.

And it's certainly better than the iTrip, since you set the station via buttons on the transmitter itself, and not with tracks on the iPod (which I think was said to cause issues with trying to shuffle all your songs). It is also cheaper (I got mine for $22 off ebay from mp3playerstore.com). Only downside is it uses a AAA battery (1 included). I might get a rechargeable to solve that.

This not only hardwires it, you can control you ipod from the deck.

the people who have the ipod in their glovebox of the bmw were mostly disapointed. At least the ones I Know.
