I, myself, am having a hard time getting referrals, but then again i signed up pretty late. I've noticed a lot of people who started back in august.

what I'm beginning to think is that there are so many people signed up as referrals of other people that it is going to be hard to find unique users to sign up and complete an offer.

Number of People
Level 1 1 1 1 1 1
Level 2 5 5 5 5 5
Level 3 25 25 25 25 25
Level 4 625 625 625 625 625
Level 5 .........

at level 1, five individuals sign up.
level 2 shows the five referrals for the individuals in level 1
level 3 shows the five referrals for each of the five individuals in leve 2
and so on
....
625 people have to sign up and complete an offer for the previous 25 people to receive ipods.

the number of people who have received their iPods shows us that the levels are becoming pretty large and that more and more unique users are needed...

the large number of people starts to slow down the referral rate and thus you don't have the quick payoff that everyone wants, and end up having to wait for months and months.

Yeah, it will run out eventually... but thats why they're releasing new websites.

very true. keep people wanting things and the sponsers will continue to receive more sign ups.

i wonder if AOL, ancestry.com and the other sponsers will eventually get fed up with all the cancellations and rethink this marketing practice?

I think they will, Gratis will have to continue finding new sponsors as they go. That's okay... I actually look for a trial that interests me, so I'm all for new sponsors to check out.

AOL wont rethink for sure, cuz alot of ppl just dont know how to cancel aol, or they dont know the phone number and they get billed 23$, and thats only the first month, and aol is making more cash then they do from the actually customers. And all the other offers have some catch

AOL probably convinces a lot of people to stay on board at a lower price as well. or maybe some newbies fall in love with the service and actually pay for the service for a while. in any case, AOL probably banks a good amount off of it.

I actually started back in June for my first iPod. Since then I've noticed that there is a continual influx of people interested in the new deals as they pop up (myself included).

Anyone who knows me is amazed at how much free stuff I've gotten so far.

When I tried to quit AOL a few years back they did everything in their power to keep me. I think that some people may stay on because they feel guilty, and then AOL makes at least something. I'd agree that some people stay on because they like it (why I have no idea) while others just forget to cancel.

This thing is nowhere near done. In theory, millions of iPods can go out. Only a few thousand have...

You also have you figure that the majority of people don't go all the way.

i've actually seen an increase in yellows over the past few days. maybe i might start thinking optimistically about the idea that there are still plenty of people that have not heard of freeipods.com. i'm still convinced that the "referral rate" is very slow now and will continue to slow down.

hoping a yellow will turn green

.....and then get all my family members in on it! mwuah ha...

once they send out all the backorders and we show them to friends and co-workers who have doubted us or have said the same old garbage like
"I'll believe it when i see it"
"It's never going to come."
"I'll sign up when you get yours."

then there will be another big boom of people signing up, and that's a fact.

That's how I'm going to get easy referrals for my sister and for me on the other free sites.

so it's not anywhere near bust it's just fluctuating right now.

More like "I want back the hours and hours of my life that I spent on this venture unless I see something from it soon."

The thing that will keep this going is the fact that it isn't a traditional pyramid. You said that 625 people have to complete an offer for the previous 25 to get ipods. The way I read that, it seems like you're saying that none of the 25 will get ipods before 625 more have signed up. That's obviously not true. The great thing about these deals is that everybody is at the top of their own little pyramid. It doesn't matter what anybody else above you, below you, or next to you does. If you get 5 referrals, you WILL get an ipod.

the only thing that might bust is the easy and good offers

I've been close to 2 months waiting for my iPod. I'm starting to believe that I'll see the dreaded 404 message soon on their website the next time I check status.
