Hi gang, quick question. How easy is it to transfer songs to/from your iPod on WinXP? Do you need to install any software, or is it simply plugging into USB?
Thanks in advance!
(oh man, I can't wait until the day I return home to find a square box waiting for me!!)

Lord there have been way too many posts about this. You have roughly three options
iTunes
Winamp plugin
Anapod Explorer
Those three are the most developed. With iTunes and the Winamp plugin you have to use those respective programs.
Anapod allows dragging and dropping of MP3s using My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Whatever you use, you MUST first use the iPod Updater Utility on the software CD to format the iPod for Windows. This must be done for hPods and iPods.

So once you format the iPod for Windows, can you use it with a Mac at will or does it need to be reformatted for the Mac?

No. It must be totally reformatted.

Totally forgot about Ephod...and yes, there is a way to use a Mac-formatted iPod on a PC, although I don't remember how.
As far as getting the CD to work, it should WORK, just not the autorun information. Try opening up the CD in My Computer or Windows Explorer (if it still doesn't work try right-clicking on the CD icon and click "Open" instead of "Autoplay"). The installer is there; you just have to actually LOOK for it in order to run it.
