I'm an 8/17 order, 8/24 STV. I switched on 9/9 and didn't receive the HP. So, still waiting like the rest of you!
I don't remember if my order was on 8/24 and it got STV later, or if I ordered it before 8/24 and then on that date it got STV...
but either way, on my page, it says this

I never touched the switch button.
If it comes within this two week timeframe that the supposd Gratis rep gave, I'll be happy. Hell, I'd even be happy if had freeipods.com engraved. I'd prefer an engraved one; gives some proof and a bit more power to the cause.
parkndrive - There's no need to switch, Gratis is only offering Apples now regardless of whether you want an HP or not. Your iPod will also not be engraved.

As soon as I reach the 2 month of waiting in this so called "backorder" I'll just abandon this whole friggin iPod scam gig. First they say it only takes a few days to get your iPod, then it stretched to a week, then 2 weeks, then to a month and now it's quickly approaching two months.

No offense to you personally, but I've heard that type of BS letter in one form or another from them. Even in one of their interviews with the media, they claimed they only had a mere few weeks backlog which in reality the early August people were already have almost a 2 month backlog.

Some 10/6's are now getting confirmation that their's have shipped today. Man, a full month and a half after 8/24 and earlier Augusts. Where did Gratis put our orders? That's just crazy. I'm starting to border on frustration and actually beginning to whine. But I'll resist. It will come - probably in January or something, but it will come.

We've spoken before about my ipod situation, (about a month ago). I ordered my ipod 2 months ago and still haven't seen it. People that have ordered their ipods as recent as oct. are now showing up as shipped.
I'm not trying to look a gifthorse in the mouth man, but this is just getting to be downright unfair and myself and a few other people in my situation are just starting to lose hope with this situation. We did our part for Gratis, now someone somewhere at your company needs to hold up to their end of the bargain.

According to Gratis, I should wait 6-8 weeks for shipping..... tomorrow is 2 months exactly, and no sign of an ipod. If you can't do me a favor and figure this out, please please direct me to someone who can.

I just had a quick e-mail conversation with Gratis.. I'll sum it up for those who don't want to read through it.
Basically, all of our orders were sent to Apple in one big bunch. There's no rhyme or reason to the shipping -- HP folks aren't being set aside and held till last, it's not by region, state, or last name. Basically he said to sit tight, they're shipping out.

So, an update.
I shipped. FINALLY.
I was STV, Apple 20gb iPod (never touched the switch button) order date of 8/24, and I just got shipped on
10/24/2004 10100 AM
I called up Fedex, and its in their system, and the expected delivery date is on the 28th. I have my tracking number and everything. I didn't get an email from gratis, but my Order status page has changed.

Pretty good timing actually since I just sold my 2G 10GB iPod, my free iSkin should be delivered soon (freeipodextras) as should my free dock and other iSkin (pokerbankroll.net - made $30 playing poker to boot). Add to that my free Shure E2c's I've had for about 2 weeks (freegiftplanet) and I'm feeling pretty well set and things are coming together at just about the same time. It has been a long wait though, with more than a few annoyances - but hey - its a $300 iPod.
Good luck all. I probably won't be spending too much time here much longer since I've got to get my butt into gear to meet some work deadlines - oh to be a college student again...
