Jake, everyone is jumping off this bridge....why not Gratis?

Maybe Peter or someone else made a statement about this, but if so, I missed it.....

Why hasn't Gratis done a laptop site yet?

Yes, I know that everyone else is gonna jump in with their opinions, but if it was going badly for OC or Coobro, they'd have pulled theirs already. That means there's profit in it.

I know that if Gratis did one, people would sooner join that than the others.

I'm just curious why Gratis hasn't done it yet.

I am sure that the management team have thought of doing a laptop site because plenty of others have done it. In the end, I am not sure what the result was, but if there is no site yet, maybe the guys didn't think it was feasible.

If you really want to find out how well it works, get in touch with someone who has received theirs from OC and see how long it took.

If it took forever to get their laptop, then you know your answer. ;)

Tholek

That could be explained by their service, however. ;)

I honestly believe that if Gratis did one, it would run smoothly. You guys seem to have the best track record of these companies. (imo)

I also understand that to offset the cost, more referrals are needed, which takes longer. Also while I think people would do more for a Gratis laptop site than a OC or Coobro one (site design being only one of the reasons), I think that you guys could probably find some new angle on the idea as well. (Do two offers etc)

Perhaps you could bring it up again at a staff meeting? ;)

No complaints here....

For me, it's enough to fear the Gratis gods, and offer up the occassional human sacrifice.

I'll forward that suggestion to the management team. I don't know if they haven't discussed it yet, but its worth a shot. Thanks! )

I was offered a job at Gratis shock - too bad I live in NY, though (I'll be a Junior in the fall, so I don't plan on leaving the area without my degree!).

As far as new sites, in my most recent discussion with Peter (which wasn't so recent, actually) he mentioned that Gratis is looking for a new, "big ticket" site that would be around 14 or so referrals. There were more specifics discussed but I'm not sure it is my place to post them here. Also, you all should keep in mind that Gratis will make a site only for products that they think will be popular with EVERYONE. As you all may know, FreeiPods.com has seen more traffic than each of their other sites combined (I'm unsure of the numbers for Free360XBOX.com), so it may be safe to assume that Gratis will stick with "new release" items rather than going out of their way to follow in the footsteps of their followers (not to menti[b18d554b0e6]O[/b18d554b0e6]n any names or spe[b18d554b0e6]C[/b18d554b0e6]ifics).

Tholek

FON, don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't modest...

Actually, at the moment, it's not easy to think of an item more popular than laptops, in comparison to the other items Gratis hasn't offered yet. The "key wants" such as gaming, music, TV and fashion have been covered, as well as desktop computing, but short of laptops (which [i72111c52fd]are[/i72111c52fd] popular with EVERYONE), the only other truly "key" want would be a PDA, which if they went ahead with it, would also be following "in the footsteps of their followers".

If there [i72111c52fd]is[/i72111c52fd] something else om the horizon, then the stockbrokers will want to know, as I don't think there's anything [i72111c52fd]currently[/i72111c52fd] out that could top a laptop.

Tholek, I didn't mean to say that Gratis WON'T come out with a notebook site...which is why I mentioned that they are (or were, at one point) looking to launch a "big ticket" item site. What I meant to say is that as long as there are new products (XBOX 360, Playstation 3) which are sure to be popular, I'm not sure that Gratis will put much effort into a site that has already beeen done. Perhaps their biggest concern is the number of people that would actually attempt to complete a notebook site versus the number of people that might actually complete the site. Maybe they are waiting to see how OC does with it? Again...I can't speak for Gratis, only myself. One thing I do know for sure, though, is that they are VERY open to suggestions.

That [i854c69dd5d]is[/i854c69dd5d] good to know. ;)

I simply see laptops as a no-brainer for a Gratis site. I think that if Peter & Co. are looking to Offercentric and J&T as examples of success with them, or lack thereof, then they aren't considering those companies' business strategies and customer support, overall.

It would be great if Gratis offered a free notebook site, they have a proven track record, and people would be willing to do two offers if necessary or get more referrals.Personally I would like to see Gratis offer an Ibook, since theyre already offering a mac mini.
