This is fairly old news if you're asking will they send the 3000 instead of the 2400 - just read some of the posts from today even. Gratis will be sending out the 3000 model with a P4. Not the 3GHz and some such as you have specified in your post - but it'll be pretty similar otherwise.

Oh, and the 3000 isn't THAT new - its been out for at least a month or more.

I thnk u miss understood me. the Dimension 3000 that Gratis offers is a 2.4GHZ 533FSB CPU, while this Dimension 3000 offered on the back of my magazine has a 3.0 800FSB CPU. I was wondering if there shipping the older version

Ahh, my apologies. I saw the 2.4 but only skimmed that part and thought you said 2400...

The 3GHz has always been an upgrade on the Dimension 3000. Since its inception the 3000 has come with two Celeron D options (better than the 2400 Celeron option) and two P4 options - the 2.8GHz 533FSB and the 3GHz 800FSB w/ HT. Of course the 3GHz is only $30 more than the 2.8, but since they had the option with the initial orders, I don't think they're forking out the extra for the rest of them. I would think eventually Dell would phase out the 2.8 @ 533 since I can't imagine the price difference between it and the 2.8 @ 800 (w/ HT) in volume is very much at all.

Gratis' site quotes the 2.4GHz Celeron option that was from the semi-original 2400 model they had specified (I think the very first Dell had a P4 running at 2.66 @ 533MHz). There is still a 2.4GHz Celeron D for the Dimension 3000, but from what I've heard Gratis will be sending out the P4 - but of the 2.8GHz flavor. Fortunately with the 3000 model, there is the upgrade path to a P4 with an 800MHz bus and hyperthreading...

Just received my Dell. Admin is correct - P4, Dimension 3000 - no LCD upgrade. Pretty similar specs as the first batch except only 40GB drive, no modem, 90 day warranty.

You bet. I started another thread that has the specs and some further comments. I'd take pics but I don't intend to open the box...

Yeah, I'm going to sell mine too. I'll buy some new parts for my PC with the money I get for it.

Yeah, I actually bought a Dell 400SC (P4 2.8GHz hyperthreaded @ 800MHz with 512MB RAM) for $200 after rebate and selling back the 40GB harddrive. So, I'm reconfiguring my 3 computers to now have a VERY nice system, as well as a media server etc. So, selling the free Dell will completely pay for my new system, some extra RAM, a few other things, plus some profit! I'm very pleased.
