Hopefully this is just temporary. Not a good idea...

agreed

geej86

03-05-2005 20:48:00

it's my understanding that it's not sposed to be a temporary thing. I think instead once a user clicks on "gratis offers" they should be taken to a list for each site, kind of like the old way but without the flooding of the forum index page with all the gratis site specific forums, just an idea

GSXR 600

03-05-2005 21:05:02

Or just keep the most active ones separate, like freeipods and freepsps.

slease

03-05-2005 21:06:48

Eh, I like this better. A lot of the questions that get asked are relevant to all the gratis sites, this way there should be less silly posts. Plus now there is a help section to get rid of some of the slag.

Well i noticed topics like "when will we ship" and "i just got approved!"

How are we supposed to know which site they are talking about if it isnt in its own specific category? This was one of the major problems I had with A4F forums and now FIPG has the same problem. it makes things very unorganized and cluttered...

Like i said before, NOT A GOOD IDEA

kutibah

03-05-2005 21:23:25

I HATE this idea. It's too cluttery and like abrock mentioned you can't tell which is which.

slease

03-05-2005 21:23:36

an easy way would be a rule where you have to have the site you are referring to in your topic title, like this

(FreeDigitalCameras) Anyone shipped yet?
--- Which system to choose? FreeGamingSystems
FreePSPs. What's the hold up with being approved

Horrible idea.......I like reading up on certain sites I am waiting on and such and this is a very bad idea. I hope it goes back to how it was.

TiVoGal

03-05-2005 22:01:28

agreed! this is a horrible format. i came here tonight looking for PSP specific information. guess i'll have to look elsewhere....

easportsea

03-05-2005 23:03:59

now i gotta go hunting for topics regarding different sites. lol

theysayjump

04-05-2005 00:44:24

yeah i have to agree with most other people in this thread its not a good idea.....its fair enough to have a rule that everyone has to have the site in the thread title but how many people read the rules as it is? especially newbies........i didnt see any problem with the way it was before. you knew where shit was, if you didnt want to read about freehandbags questions you didnt have to.........if someone does want to read or post a freehandbags question, then they are going to have to go through every other thread (im assuming freehandbags is the least popular so therefor gets less threads, topics whatever) before finding a question about freehandbags.

oh well, thats just my 2 pence

I like this way more. Either all networks get split up or all remain the same.

booo on this

keyspacer

04-05-2005 03:06:09

I give a big thumbs down to this idea. If we are going to start naming topics with the site listed first, we might as well have categories again.

bruman

04-05-2005 03:43:38

yea this sucks

megacoupe

04-05-2005 05:26:11

For the bigger networks, such as Gratis and Offer Centric, I don't think this is a good idea because of the variety of offers and sheer volume of people participating and asking questions.

As for the smaller networks, such as Coobro and Gusto, I think one forum is enough for each of them until they get bigger.

engleisle

04-05-2005 06:12:50

RealtorKen

I don't know if anyone has said anything about it yet...But this kinda does suck

Stroid

04-05-2005 06:53:43

ok its a bit cluttered but it will work out....look at OC forum it got combined a while back it just takes a bit to get adjusted

TiVoGal

04-05-2005 07:57:24

yeah, and that has led to the appearance of other OC sites where people now go for their information.

Archon810

04-05-2005 08:00:48

I just click on the "View new topics" all the time, never even bother browsing the forums.

I'll chime in with everybody else and say I don't like it.

hey stroid/admin/other mods.......and im not trying to be a dick but do you guys take into consideration what we think? as in, if there is 75% of the poeple on this site who dont like this idea (or any idea) do you change it to what the majority would like? or is it a decision between the mods and the admin?......like i said its just a general question and i wasnt trying to say you guys dont give a shit......just trying to get an idea as to where this latest change might be going.

if you guys do take into consideration what the other member think, maybe a poll would be a good thing?

Ha, and that's why there's only one post every five hours on the OC forum.

Yeah, I have to agree. Combining all the sites might reduce the number of stupid posts in unrelated forums - but I have to feel its going to force folks to look elsewhere for a community. This forum was superb because when you were looking for information on one of the offers, you would go to that forum and see all the posts related to that offer. Typically a quick scan would result in finding a topic matching your question or one that you thought interesting. I completed freeipods and many of the other sites a long time ago - posts regarding those sites don't interest me anymore and I don't have current information to assist anyone struggling through that process. I want to be able to focus on those sites that I'm actively pursuing and communicate with other members who are at similar stages as I am. Having to wade through multiple pages deciphering which offer a thread is about is a time-suck. I know it'll get libetterli as folks put the offer in their title - but the site you're looking for might be referenced in one thread out of every 10...

I expect a pretty dramatic decrease in the number of posts on this site. Maybe that's what you want, but it just seems odd to me.

Everybody, there's a poll in the off-topic section concerning this

abrock124

04-05-2005 12:19:59

yeah go vote! so far its 6-0 in favor of the old format

Great post. You should include that in the Off-topic vote discussion thread! 70 for the old format)

since there is now a poll in the off-topic board i shall take that as a yes, you do listen to us. sweet!

thank you stroid.

lol the funny part is that no matter how much you guys complain about the merge, its permanent. The only way to undo it would be to delete all the topics.

kutibah

04-05-2005 16:39:19

They could re-add forums and people would create threads there fom now on. I understand though that all current threads have to remain clutterred.

theysayjump

04-05-2005 19:50:15

i know it would take a lot of work but is there no way to back up all the threads, posts etc., revert back to the old system and then put all the threads back into the new (old) version?

or is this just silly talk?

Stroid

04-05-2005 20:16:50

to much work and we would loose all post from today....this is the last change people will have to deal with it this way. plus this system with the picture icons will be great

Admin

04-05-2005 20:18:11

I have database backups from the past week, and then weekly ones from before that. On two computers. Restoring a backup wouldn't be a problem; however, I think this new post icon system will suit our needs well.

theysayjump

04-05-2005 22:56:57

willietanner

05-05-2005 10:21:24

i think it is terrible. i'm gonna go vote in the poll.

There's too many people out there who are just interested in one or two sites, and lumping them all in together just makes it far more difficult.

Stroid

05-05-2005 10:23:41

sorry willie but your SOL your pretty negative most of the time anyways...but we have made accomodating changes which will help the appearance

flashbackz

05-05-2005 15:22:36

i do'nt know if yall give a crap about my opinion... but i think this is terrible as well... are there any practical reasons that yall have done this other than yall just 'like' this format more? i do'nt think this is really going to save yall much bandwidth/space or anything that you can measure in #'s.... why not have subforums for gratis? does anyone other than the admis really like this?

Stroid

05-05-2005 15:35:52

i would be game for that but admin wants it this way talk to him about it suggest it in the thread that is in off-topic
