Gratis makes it seem like they put a new flat pannel monitor on the Dell computer just for us yay!!! But at the same time they downgraded it to a Celeron processor making it about $300 less than the P4 that it originally was.

Just thought you should know )

tricky. But I'd rather a FP any way.

By flat panel you mean CRT... I was thinking LCD at first... I wonder if that means thats what I will get... I ordered before that was there... I want that more though since it has more RAM and a nicer monitor... The one I ordered only had 128 megs of Ram... Go thing is it was a P4 and not a crap ass celeron

The picture has a flatscreen LCD but the computer includes a standard CRT (tube) 17" monitor.

Changing a computer from a p4 to a celeron does NOT decrease its value by $300, unless you've been smoking some stuff.

I got a dell store magazine and it showed it around 300 dollers less. Maybe because its a sale or something, but it was the exact computer. And if you meant a celeron is better than a pentium four, its not.

You were either a) looking at the wrong configuration, or b) you were smoking something. No, I didn't mean the celeron is better than a p4.

My monitor will go for great use... It will more than likley stay in a box... This PC will be a server controled via VNC ;)

Its a crap computer anyways... But I kinda wanted the P4 more then I want a CRT monitor, but I guess its an ok trade off since I get an extra 128 megs of RAM... Should stay at 2.6 though instead of 2.4...

Zephyr

i wanted the dell for the p4 2.6, so i could switch it with the 2.53 i have now. Then i'd put a little extra ram in there and use it as a music, movie, and dedicated game server. But celerons blow, so i dunno

Why upgrade from 2.53 to 2.6.. Not worth the time it takes to do it... I gurantee you wont notice a difference...

Zephyr

the main point was having the server. but upgrading my two-year-old cpu to a brand new, faster one would be a plus.

nobody noticed that they upgraded the memory from 128MB to 256MB, that's not bad at all, well it's not good but 128 really sucked.

whats the use of having more ram if your processor sucks? I'd rather have 128 mb of ram and a great processor so I can easily purchase more in the future.

If you look at that... Notice the model numbers of the monitors are the same meaning that it never changed... They degraded the processor to a slower celeron, took away your CD burner, and added 128 megs of RAM... I really hope I get the one they advertised before... I did order before that computer was posted.
