How I found out I am due to be shipped the 20th.

I am a desperate child. Yes, that's right, I have about as much patience as a fugly frenchie. The truth is, like many, I have been waiting for my iPod for close to 2 months now. I am IP3 on August 6th. I have been through a lot, the excitement of the first week, the excitement of all the stages of order placement. But for close to two months, I have been visiting the site and seeing bullshit like people 9/17 being shipped before me (regular apple iPods too!). WTF. Well then, I came upon this thread

Some guy made a script to brute force the fedex site, given the initial tracking number. He came up with about 6 tracking numbers for my small city. None of them were mine though. But, I called FEDEX anyways. "Rep" get's you directly to the service rep. I just gave the nice lady my address and she told me. Boom! Within seconds she told me all the packages coming to my house within the next month! Most of them were my dads, but I asked her if there happened to be one from china, or some international location or if any of them were 1.0lb or more. Yep. She said "yep". I said yep. That's it. I am getting my ipod October 20, 2004. Hi.

Wait... You're saying all people have to do is call Fedex, and fedex will be able to tell them when it's coming?

if you have a tracking # they should be able to tell you if its coming to you or not, but i doubt that they'll look up your address and tell you each package coming.

i just got a promotion at work so i have to deal w/FedEX / UPS each and everyday. tommorow when im doing some orders ill ask whoever I get on the phone.

yeah i just called, just ask for "Rep" and then ask for a "General Search", they said no packages coming to my house cry cry cry

Yup they will give you any info for packages coming to your address...I just called and talk to International Shipments...gave her my addy and zip but she didn't see anything cry

if you had a tracking number you'd know it was being shipped and it wouldn't matter exactly what date it came..how did you get a tracking number if you are STV?

You can do the same thing by registering on the FedEx site. However, I'm a bit perplexed by the original post. The title says it's shipping on the 20th, yet you say the lady told you it would arrive the 20th. If it's set to arrive on the 20th, it's already been shipped. In fact, you'll get it in about three days. If it's set to be shipped on the 20th, well, that's sorta far-fetched, IMO. FedEx can't telepathically see shipments that don't exist yet, and Apple isn't going to set up tracking numbers for shipments three weeks in advance. If FedEx was able to tell you that it's coming to you, then it is an existing shipment with an existing tracking number. Just because you don't know the tracking number doesn't mean it doesn't exist...

Finally who actually told that we can do the same thing on FedEx.com . Yes, you can register for "FedEx Insight" (i think that was the name of the service) and it shows all inbound and outbound shipments from/to your address.

And as far as I know, that is free to get. You only pay when you actually ship something.

This has probably been posted elsewhere in the forum, but the 10/20 anticipated arrival date is a VERY rough estimate...I shipped from Shanghai over the weekend (8/10 ip3) - Attempted delivery yesterday afternoon. When I got home from work, I took the door tag, drove 10 minutes to the Fedex facility in East Hanover, NJ and there it was. Of course, my hard drive got fried Monday night, so I've got the ipod but no music other than what I had at work. 2 hours on the phone with Dell tech support and they're shipping me a new HD, which should arrive today or tomorrow. Truly can't wait.

Sorry guys to leave you hanging for so long. But I had the same questions for the lady that you guys have. "How can you forsee a shipment!?" Well I asked her, and she said that fedex "pre-prints" shipping labels, and that an international label for my address has been printed.

Wow, that sucks you won't get your Ipod until the 20th. I was an 8/6 also but I got mine today.

i got my ipod TODAY! doesn't make sense though... the lady said the 20th..or did she said 2nd? o well. im happy.

p.s. i have to wait till nov 30, when i get back home from college to actually use it. (
