hey guys, i just got put on hold this morning because one of my referrals lives in the same house i do (with like 16 other guys). i'm planning on sending an email to freeipods.com to try to get taken off hold, but i wasn't sure how to convince them that he's unique. i mean, he used his own credit card and stuff like that. he even signed up for the boca java offer and has already started drinking the coffee they sent him.

what would y'all say in the email if you were me? the whole thing's legit except that he lives in the same house i do (and i guess he uses the same IP address). also, do y'all know the email address i'm supposed to send this to? i can't find it anywhere.

thanks a bunch,
michael

Pictures of you and him and the coffee?

That would be kinda funny....and if you're creative about it, they might be more willing.

The website says one user per US household.

I was put on hold yesterday, and taken off. They also claimed that my referals were not 'unique'. I just told them the truth, that they were infact unique, and that i didnt understand why i was on hold. I got a response within 40 minutes, and last night iwas taken off hold. Now i'm processing. My advice, just be honest.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that when you have more than x amount of people per dwelling it can no longer be classified as a household and becomes an apartment, condo, dorm, (ahem frat house) etc....

did that referral live in the same place as you or have the same IP address? also, what email address did you send it to?

thanks.

you dont send them to e-mail from your provider, you have to go to the FAQ at freeipods.com and then will just have a thing like "if you got put on hold and want to argue your case" go here and it will just give you a blank box to type your case in... then push send

just be honest, tell them it's more like a boarding house than a household... lol... maybe tell them he won't try to get an iPod? He was just trying to help you.

i was thinking the same thing, adam. i'm hoping i can use that in my argument.

ehh if thats not true dont tell them that, cuz they could also see that as "this kid isnt gonna get us any more people to sign up so why should i honor his request"

well i sent them a message explaining that i lived in a big house with 16 other people, and that my referral wasn't fraudulent. This was their response
"[i0f18932530]We are very sorry but our terms and conditions state that we only allow 1 account per household.[/i0f18932530]"

Do y'all think if I just get another referral then I could request approval again?

go to the [quotee622ea7fd2]Account Issues! (Help me)[/quotee622ea7fd2]

well, i just got my buddy (whose referral was not approved) to send freeipods.com a message like i did. he apparently stated the case better than i did because they just told me i was taken off hold and that his referral would count.

my only question is... why does my status still say
While you have completed all the requirements to get a free iPod, we have reviewed your account and referral offer completions and have placed your account on hold. We have determined that your referrals appear to not be unique users. Because we make money from advertisers who only pay us for unique users, we cannot credit you for these referrals. [/size6fe5623701]

[/size6fe5623701] I noticed that they changed my buddy's referral from "Not Approved" to "Offer Completed" but they haven't changed my status to show that i'm off hold. thus, i can't put an order thru yet. does it sometimes take them a while to update the status??

thanks for the help guys.

Well a frat house is not a house hold . You are a paying tenant . Which means each one of the 16 people in the frat house are allowed to sign up under law. You just have to put your address and apartment 1-16 for each one .

That is what we used to do in our house (not a frat but at college ) we had a big house and 10 of us lived there. We just did our mail 1-10 and put a mail box cubby thingy with 10 slots for mail.

that's actually a really good idea. thanks a lot man.

and do you think i should inquire about why my status still says i'm on hold or should i just wait a little while for them to update that?

The only sticking point i can see though is an ip address . But thats just a shit rule to begin with. On campus everyone has the same ip which sucks ass .
