I've been looking closely at these two models and I'm not sure if i should sell my ipod and get an iriver. because if i do plan to do this it'd be bst if i don't open the box so ic an go to bestbuy and exchange. so far i think iriver has a better battery and way more features that are included that the ipod charges for external add ons.
would you guys switch for the fm, recording, ect?
o yeah pricewise, i think iriver20gig is slightly more expensive then the 20 gig ipod now that ipod has dropped the price slightly. i think

I like the iPod way better. The interface alone and click wheel makes up for lack of radio. For recording, you can buy another piece for the iPod.
Just my 2 cents.

click wheel just makes my day, fuck those stupid buttons that every other portable audio player has, i would pay 300 bones just to play with the sweet ass wheel wink

here's an article speaking about the iRiver and it says that the iRiver is just as good as the iPod but I have no experience and can't say one way or another

i was the doomed batch of ipods that got engraved freeipods.com, i wouldn't be able to trade it in even if i wanted

I had an iRiver mp3 cd player. Laser broke within a year. I am not pleased.

Radio is useless when you have an mp3 player.
Unless..u want to listen to lower quality music...or AM radio...which is also useless.

What do they place on the box? and does this only apply to apple or HP as well?

They don`t place anything on the box. However, the model number of the engraved ipods is P8xxx something, while the regulars are Msame thing. So when they scan it - oh no, we can`t exchange it...

Anyway...back the Iriver vs. iPod. Most online reviews rank iPod 4th out of the HDD based players. Ahead of Apple is
1. Iriver hp120
2. Rio Karma
3. Dell DJ
Ipod is rated as having terrible sound quality in comparison to the others and poor battery life.
But this doesn't even take into accout the NEW Iriver that came out this week. It's called the HP320. It has a COLOR screen and can display digital pics from a camera and even unload pics directly from a digital camera for viewing or freeing up space on your camera's card. Now THAT'S bitchin. Screw iPod. It makes me strung out waiting for it anyway.
