anybody been having problems exchanging lately......i've been calling around asking about returning mine without a receipt and they say that as long as they can verify the serial number on the box as being purchased in an apple store there is no problem exchanging it. But, I have a feeling if I went to the store they would reject me and tell me that it wasn't purchased at an apple store. Anybody think they've caught on and changed their policies???

Why don't you just go up to a CompUSA or something and return it. They have almost as much mac stuff as an apple store. Plus they got a whole lot of PC stuff also. Or you can get almost any iPod you need.

Has anybody tried to exchange at CircuitCity? My local CC has them all in-stock, so I thought about trying to trade-up to the 30GB Photo. The nearest Apples stores are about 85 miles away. I suppose I could call them...

Ya if they have some in stock. Call them first. My store has only got 3 in since they came out. Sold the first two the day they came out. Put the third one on display. But wait till next Saturdays ad. They are going to be in the ad that week. So we should be getting a few in. So get there early on Saturday (like right when we open to get it.) The ad I am referring to is for my region (14) but it should be for all the others as well.

Umm, to whom were you replying? You sound like you work at one of these stores, but since CC, CompUSA, and Apple stores have all been mentioned I'm not clear on which one you're referring to...
Jf you were answering my question about CC, does that mean CC won't/can't confirm it was bought at CC and will do the exchange without a receipt?

What is Compusa's return/exchange policy on items unopened without a receipt? I may enjoy having $900 (ipod + mac mini) at my disposal at Compusa rather than just the Apple Store. If I bring them in and state they were a gift, is the store credit easy to get?

Well, I wanted to return it at an Apple store to get my student discount on the 30gb photo.
