Well, I told probably 50 of you via AIM that I would post as soon as I heard something...so here is the latest word

[quote33e55d3b21="Gratis"]The PSPs are way backordered with Sony, it may take up to 6 weeks.[/quote33e55d3b21]

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but it looks like we might be in for a wait. Sorry guys.

29-03-2005 16:58:19

Yeah this is just ridiculous how much false hope gratis gave us all

shortys408

29-03-2005 17:03:02

if they were preorders, shouldnt they have shipped right away?

29-03-2005 17:05:10

LOL! Suckas! I did phreepsps and mines gonna be shipped out on April 1st.

[quote40bf563f54="J4320"]LOL! Suckas! I did phreepsps and mines gonna be shipped out on April 1st.[/quote40bf563f54]

Phreepsps isnt shipping PSPs out until april 15th. The first shipment will only include those who went for just games or accessories, I talked to the guy and he said they wouldnt ship out any psps until their second shipment on April 15th. I think OC is the only site that was really on top of things.

......SUCKA

jhennson

29-03-2005 17:28:42

so now 6 weeks for gratis? hopefully they have the PSP with the spiderman 2 movie...

Uriarte69

29-03-2005 17:29:07

I thought I read that Gratis preordered a bunch of psps. How can preorder=backorder? Plus, I guess our chance of getting the Spidey movie are slim.

PodTopia

29-03-2005 17:51:46

goes to local Target to get PSP

jhennson

29-03-2005 17:52:02

lisees an opportunity for trade -- Spiderman 2 for something...hmmm )li

Definitely worth more to me than 1 ref...

im guessing this is straight from Gratis and not a cs

Mr Sofa Sets

29-03-2005 19:14:19

Pathetic. OfferCentric proves to be the superior company once again. Luckily, I finished both sites and should have my PSP from OC by the end of next week.

ENGRDawg

29-03-2005 19:18:26

i just wish they hadnt put that shiot about "preordering a ton" of psps on their website. i've gotten pretty patient with getting free stuff but i don't have any patience for people lying to me.

jhennson

29-03-2005 19:23:17

Well atleast gratis should put it on their main website....

I hope I get my PSP within 6 weeks since I just ordered today... D

oh5srt4

29-03-2005 19:50:42

thats ridiculous that they advertised they had preorders, so people who completed didnt preorder in the store, and now theyre not gonna get the free spidey movie....ID BE PISSED! If u want the spidey movie that bad, there's always ebay

kaymin

29-03-2005 20:11:28

i got a spidey movie for someone if the wanna buy it lol, anyways I bought a psp and LOOOOVE it!

Doh004

29-03-2005 20:30:45

You all know he said that the problem went all the way back to Sony? You ever think that other people who had preorders didn't get theirs? I mean of course I'm blamming Gratis for giving us false hope, however it's not completely 100% their fault. Blame Sony for not making enough to start out if you really need to.

knowtomorrow

29-03-2005 20:34:16

Ok, now I know for sure that the PSP is NOT back ordered...Everywhere I go I see that measly thing staring me in the eye. Stacks and stacks or rows and rows of them. I even saw a buy with a pallet jack full of them at Circuit City. So my thought here is that maybe Gratis is holding off until they can possibly get a cheaper, more basic package of the PSP. Maybe just the 'Core' system so to speak, with nothing included other than the system and a charger....I don't know when Sony will be releasing that version, but someone should look into it. If it's within a month I bet that is what they are waiting for. Trying to save a few bucks on their customers. Hmmm...

wood

29-03-2005 20:36:31

i still think they are going to ship out in a week...

DCJoeDog

29-03-2005 20:38:15

basic package will not be out in the USA until around hte x-mas buying season

their not backordered.. most stores have extra psps laying around

PodTopia

29-03-2005 20:54:15

Yeah, my local Target and Wal-Mart do. Most people are just like, "well, gamestop doesn't have it, so no one does" and then they go to eBay and spend $300.

kaymin

29-03-2005 21:07:31

lol, ya i went to bestbuy the day after thinking there would only be a few in stock cuz they said they had some I go and they have this cage about waist height half full

PodTopia

29-03-2005 21:16:43

It's only online stores and gaming stores like EBGames and GameStop that are sold out. Gratis probably gave us that wait time just so they had a while to make sure everyone was happy if they DID ship on that date. Let's hope so.

Mr Sofa Sets

Very well said.

kutibah

29-03-2005 22:16:25

So do you guys expect Gratis to ship sometime in the next week or so? Sometimes companies give an extended time period to protect themselves just incase something happens. (like space aliens buying out the psp ))

jhennson

29-03-2005 22:26:34

how many people you think gratis have approved for PSP?

PodTopia

30-03-2005 03:40:07

Kutibah, that's what I said. Hopefully, we're correct.

Dais781

30-03-2005 07:46:28

I highly doubt that it will take six weeks for them to ship them out. Kutibah's theory is right on the money. Gratis is definately trying to cover so they get enough in to meet demand. I give it about two weeks, be patient my children, and you shal be well rewarded in the end. )

FreeOffersNow

30-03-2005 09:58:02

What I have told you came directly from Gratis, and is most certainly accurate information. However, if you look at the language "may take up to 6 weeks," it doesn't necessarily mean it will take 6 weeks, just that it could take that long.

willietanner

30-03-2005 10:13:10

This just amazes me...

Anyone who looks at a six week time span estimate from Gratis, and reads into that, "Oh, they will most likely be shipping in 1 or 2 weeks" is just utterly naive and in denial. There is absolutely nothing to indicate to you that these will be shipped to you in this time span. Gratis, who has never had a track record for fast or responsive customer service and shipping, is now sending out hundreds of one of the most popular new electronic devices in years. This is not a combination that adds up to a quick delivery, no matter how foolishly optimistic you wish to remain.

The rest of us, who know how Gratis works, who have been "shipped" on freegamingsystems for over three weeks with nothing to show for it, who have been unable to even get a customer service response to our inquiries, know better, and will expect our PSPs in hopefully a month and a half.

kutibah

30-03-2005 15:34:41

I sent Gratis a nasty support comment and here is what I got today

[quotece585b16f5]Thanks for your email about your order. PSPs are currently on backorder because of their very high demand. But, the good news is many will be shipped out from our vendor in the near future. We will expedite your order. Please be patient and understand we are doing everything in our power to get your order out the door and into your hands. We are sorry for the delay. [/quotece585b16f5]

Very high demand my ass. x

What do they mean my "expedite" your order? Does that mean overnight shipping? mrgreen Is that just for me or for everyone else too?

PodTopia

30-03-2005 15:41:14

Dayum. If they expedite it, that should mean overnight shipping. I'll send them a support ticket now too ). Let's here everyone elses results before I send one.

Stroid

30-03-2005 15:55:59

Leave gratis alone everyone sending cs inquiries only will delay the process

wood

30-03-2005 15:56:21

No way are they shipping them overnight mail.

That costs 500% more then what they would pay otherwise.

By 'expedite', they mean "shut up because we are working as fast as we want too".

Oh well...at least we are waiting... ) together )

30-03-2005 17:25:50

Just a random thought (I am not saying this will happen) What are the chances that Gratis goes bankrupt by the time they even get their hands on the PSPs? What will happen to all those who signed up?

Even worse, what is the chance that they are in the process of going bankrupt (based on what is happening with freeflatscreens) and are just delaying the mass panic?

Again, I dont mean to start a flame war or make people panic, but I am just bringing this up for discussion of possibilities...

Doh004

30-03-2005 17:27:57

They aren't obliged to give out the free items. Their TOS says so.

PodTopia

30-03-2005 17:34:44

Yeah, I personally think Gratis is going downhill. They have an excellent opportunity to pack up ship and leave. Nothing can happen, no lawsuits, nothing. I don't think they'll do it now, but I don't put it past them. I'm sticking to OC.

egyptianruin

30-03-2005 19:45:37

Funny thing is, I went shopping today, and not only did EB Games have the PSP in stock, so did Wal-Mart and Target, and not just a few. At least 10-15 of them. Heck I will be happy just to get my PS2, I would rather just buy the PSP. Since it is in "such high demand" maybe I should go pick one up tomorrow. I hate when people lie to me, but a company lying in their canned responses and promises to the people who keep them in business is just plain ridiculous. Very poor business ethics.

PodTopia

30-03-2005 19:48:09

EgyptianRuin, you're right, but I must say, not many online stores have PSPs left. It's only the brick-and-mortar stores. But you're right, PSPs4Free (OC) seems to be doing fine.

egyptianruin

30-03-2005 20:01:05

The more I think about it the angrier I get. Lying is just plain wrong, especially if you are a business! Even hiding things from customers is wrong. Look at Blockbuster and their "no late fees" program! They had to pay out millions to different states just for not telling customers that they buy the video after so many days late.

"We're pre-ordering a ton, so if you sign up now, and get your 5 complete referrals, you'll likely avoid the shortages and get one before your friends."

Point and case, this is false advertising. I guess because they threw the word "likely" in there they think they can fool everyone who signed up. They gather all the money and oops, we forgot to pre-order. I hate Gratis now. Never again will I refer anyone to their company.

PodTopia

30-03-2005 20:04:02

I guess same here. Only problem is that I'm running out of legit sites to do so they may be my only option. But after this, I may just exit the free site world. I've had bad experiences with each network.

kutibah

30-03-2005 20:09:01

After this, I may just stick with OC. Gratis is still legit in my opinion, but I'd rather go with OC from now on. Fast crediting, Fast Shipping, Paypal option always ;). I also like the way their site is set up more than Gratis. )

DCJoeDog

Fast crediting my ass. Just check OC part of the forum in here. I guess by "fast" crediting you mean "some" people have to wait a couple of days? What about the rest of them which are waiting for weeks & months? Oh wait, they do credit fast)

[quote25c06b5b61="kutibah"] We know we're going to get them. It's not the psps that's bugging us for them most part. It's the fact that Gratis LYED to us. [/quote25c06b5b61]
Whoever wanted a PSP that soon after the release date, should have gone to the shop, bought one and be happy. Noone obliged you to sign up right? "But wait, Gratis LYED to us" - how can you be sure WHEN they preordered them - a couple of days ago when you tried to preorder the PSP on many websites, it said you're going to be shipped in the 2nd, or 3rd shipment, and that is APRIL! If you go to ebgames.com, they have ONLY the "Teen" bundle which is $419.99. You can't expect Gratis employees to go to every shop near their office, and buy all the available PSPs (which won't be more than 5 at a store), and then ship them out, do you?
Gratis is having some issues lately, that's true. But being impatient, bitching about it, calling them liars etc. [b25c06b5b61]ISN'T[/b25c06b5b61] going to help.
"But OMG, I WANT MY PSP NOW, FUCKING BASTARDS, THEY LIED TO ME AND I"M NOT GETTING MY FREE PSP FAST!" - come on people, get back to earth. Usually I don't agree with willietanner, but he's completely right this time. If you want it THAT much, go out and buy it, what's the big deal?

kutibah

30-03-2005 22:05:23

Many of us are here because we can't afford many of these "free" items. Why would have they said they pre-ordered some if they really didn't? I agree to the fact that there are not much value packs for the psps online available, but still, they shouldn't have said they "pre-ordered a bunch."

Phbs83

30-03-2005 22:09:41

You can never be sure when (and if) they preordered them - I told you, I tried to preorder a PSP from one of the sites out there (forgot the name), and it said I will be shipped when they get the 2nd or 3rd shipment from sony - 2nd shipment is in april, 3rd - unknown...

Yea but you tried to preorder a couple of days ago whereas gratis announced this much longer ago, dont play that leave them alone card on me

Fact is, they decieved us, and it worked. Deception plays a big role for companies get so used to it, but deception only lowers your loyal members, the ones that hound at every new site you do and refer 5-10 guys that probably will not complete the requirements themselves, as well as the hundreds of yellows i get that try to refer people before they complete their own offers

I'll tell you this much, next time OC and Gratis make similar sitesI'll just go for OC since once again they prove themselves superior.

kutibah

30-03-2005 22:27:53

OC proves itself by showing loyalty and honesty to their members.

On the other hand, Gratis deceives their members and are in this for the "profit".

Honesty is always the BEST policy ;).

Phbs83

30-03-2005 22:31:36

Hm, if you were gratis, are you going to preorder them the same day you put that on the site? Seriously? What will happen if for example you preorder let's say 1000, and only 250 people complete the site? That's hypothetically speaking. You're going to be left with 750 PSPs which you HAVE to pay for, plus you'll have to find them a storage or something like that which isn't free either.
Speaking of OC - I've so far had TERRIBLE experience with it. I haven't been credited for 2 offers, one of them back in NOVEMBER, and I've been sending them emails every week with proof that I completed the offer, but why should they bother to answer/give me credit or something like that? They're far superior than the rest, and such issues don't happen to them. Second offer is still pending since 3/9 which is 3 weeks already... absolutely the same situation they just keep ignoring my emails....That's really "superior"P

Stroid

30-03-2005 22:32:46

In general Gratis does not deceive its members i believe they had some issues with their preorders and that is unfortunate...now i wish they didnt word it the way they did but as we all know they did word it incorrectly. We will get our psps its just gonna take a bit longer either way gratis is a great company and i will stick behind them cause they have given me lots of free gear....Also OC is great to i enjoy their service to.

Phbs83

LMAO OC NOT for the profit? Come on - have you thought of this

5 refs - $275 for DVRs4free
7 refs - $325 for the cameras
5 refs - $250 for PSPs

Note Forgot to mention - 3 refs - $85(!!) for ipodshuffles + they send 512MB ones, not 1GB ........
Do the math, and then tell me they aren't being cheap with their newer sites...

And a company staying in business for the loyalty is a dream... EVERYONE is in for the profit!

kutibah

30-03-2005 22:37:27

They aren't being cheap with their newer sites ;). They on average make only $15-$20 per offer completed and can be in the hole alot of times. I am not saying they are not in this for profit, but they care about us and not just some money.

Phbs83

30-03-2005 22:42:20

If they were making $15-$20 per offer they would have already gone down the hole...
6 offers for a PSP - $120(using your assumption)
price of the PSP - regularly $250, let's say they are getting them at a discounted price, say $200... for every PSP they send, they're losing close to $100 - you actually believe this?)

abrock124

30-03-2005 23:01:36

As much as you want to beleive that these sites care about us, I highly doubt they really do. They care about keeping the majority of customers happy because thats better for their business, but they do not care about the individual. One day somebody came up with this great idea that would make them alot of money. Thats why it was started and thats why its still going, MONEY. As long as they can keep the majority of people happy they will continue to earn money. If they really cared about individual people, then there wouldnt be those out there, myself included, who have been waiting for our completed offers to receive credit for over a month! OC ignores my emails too. I have only received credit for the offers i completed on 1 out of the 4 OC sites i'm participating in. They dont care. They know they have thousands of other success stories that are being passed on to new and potential customers every single day. The people who get screwed eventually give up, so it doesnt hurt OC that bad. I started this whole "free" thing about a month ago and i really feel like i am joining up too late. It seems like all these companies are going downhill. I have completed gamingsystems and psps on Gratis, both of which are having some serious issues. I have not received credit on most of my OC sites. Dont even get me started on Prizecube. I am done with games and consoles, the best advice anybody has been able to give me about a timeframe is just to "finish getting referrals then basically forget all about it because it takes so long."
4freespot worded one of their offers poorly and then screwed me and many others when we followed what the requirements stated. Once again, they were just interested in getting as much money as they could. Needless to say, I have had pretty bad experiences with nearly all the companies so far. I also agree with everyone who thinks this is completely ridiculous that gratis has not shipped any of the "tons" of psps that they "preordered." If they had any good news for us, dont you think they would post it on their main site? All the responses you are getting to support tickets are just very politely saying SHUT UP, LEAVE US ALONE, WE'LL GET AROUND TO SHIPPING THE PSPS SOONER OR LATER. I had high hopes that they would be shipping out already, but now that its been a week since the PSP release, i know thats not gonna happen. Deliberately giving people false hope is wrong. My hand hurts so im done typing for now...

I own, Bullion4Free, and that is how much they pay us per offer. The only $30+ offers are the hosting offers. At Bullion4Free, we rely on people getting refs and never completing the site. I couldn't wait any longer, so I bought my PSP bundle off Walmart. The unit itself was $245. I also bought accessories with it at Walmart (it was being sold as a bundle), and I bought other games and accessories on ebay, and my grand total comes out to be $456. )

When I get the item from Gratis, I'll sell it on Ebay and hopefully get it around 200, if not 250 from my original price of the unit value pack alone, seeing that Gratis ships the Value Pack.

When I get my free ipodshfufle, I'll put that on ebay and get myself a 1gb memory card for the PSP. D

If you think that OC and Gratis are getting the same rates per lead as all these new startup freesites, you are sadly mistaken.

Just from the sheer volume of leads altogether, they can negotiate better rates. Add to that the better tracking for the advertisers because of their inhouse system, they might even be going direct to the advertisers to negotiate rates.

I agree that way the profit is earned is by the number of people signing up, completing an offer, and then not getting all their referrals. But I would be willing to bet that there are higher lead amounts given to OC and Gratis.

[quotec5e3ed4025]Btw, what is a "CB" and "CJ" account? That's the only part I don't get)[/quotec5e3ed4025]

CJ and CB are two of the big advertising networks that supply the advertisers to the freesites.

Even with CJ, you can talk directly to a merchant if you are sending them a large number of sales or leads and negotiate a higher rate. I know, I've done it myself with other merchants there (non incentive).

Here's a question So for everyone who was so excited that a Gratis rep had confirmed that they were in the "Pre order bunch" of PSPs, what do you think they were telling you? Did they really think there was a preorder bunch? Did they just lie? Was there one at one time that you actually would have been in, but they never got it together to place the order?

Don't forget that Gratis Cust Service didn't just post that Pre order claim on their website, they also did a lot of talking and individual reassurance about it to invidual accounts...Bastards...

To tell you the truth, when they sent me a message it wasn't worded "you're in the pre-order batch"

That was February 24th) I double-checked, but there is nothing written about "pre-order bunch")

Just a point of note everyone. OfferCentric Approved my PSPs4Free account toady after only 5 business days of waiting. They are the best!

Approved or actually sent you the PSP?P
If it's just approved - I was approved and ordered the Gratis PSP in 7 hours)

I wish they'd give me credit for my last ref on dvrs4free. To be honest, I haven't had the best experience with OC to date, but maybe things will turn around.

Approved on Gratis and OC are a bit different. They mean the same thing but the time frames are different. OC typically sends out the product about 1-2 days after approval and ordering whereas Gratis can take, well months apparently.

I was also approved and ordered on Gratis very quickly. It took 10 hours for me, but I have been processing like the rest of us ever since 2-25-05. I have a contact a OfferCentric and I have received a bit of stuff from both companies. I am sure I will have my PSP from OC within 7 business days.

I got my PVP 5 days after approval and my DVR 6 days after. Even way back when they first came out I got my Iriver about 10 days after approval. OfferCentric doesn't play games like Gratis.

Ok, I will be really surprised if they do send you the PSP in 7 days. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.

So far I've had only really bad experience with OC. No credit for 2 of the offers I did (It happens for one, but 2?! And to still show on your status page "Pending as of 11/20" is NOT looking good - I have forwarded them the email several times, I've sent them numerous letters and STILL nothing. Plus second one is pending as of 03/09...hmm), I'm not getting credit for people doing offers for me as well. I really want to like that company, but these things are not way to persuade me it's better, more loyal and so-on than Gratis (from which I received all the stuff in my signature)

^^ Same here. I never got credit for an offer I did. It still says Pending as of March 10. And I feel bad because I did do the offer. They jsut never gave me credit and I did a trade with someone for my PSP. I sent OC a ticket and letting them know I did the offer, but still nothing.

If I have to do another offer, I'll do it.

It's unfortunate that things are not going well for you with them. I am currently waiting on credit for FeelSerenity from them on my sisters PSP4Free account as you already know. If I don't get credit it will not be the first time, however, I have always received credit from them after emailing them politely. No big deal to me to send an email. And if not, I'll just do another offer.

As for me not having my PSP in 7 [uff3b5328bf]business[/uff3b5328bf] days, I don't even consider it as a possibility with OfferCentric. I have been doing these sites for a while and make all of my assumptions based on information received from them, and from previous experience. I have quite a bit more experience than you do with both of these companies and have no reason to doubt OC's ability to get it to me promptly.

And BTW, there won't be any pictures because I don't have a digital camera yet. I'm waiting on Gratis for my Canon S70 ) However, I will put the tracking number in my signature after I receive the PSP so you can see all the details of the shipment for yourself.

PSPs are most certainly widely available. 375,000 of them to be exact. Gratis, COME ON! I should be done with OC though, so I should be fine ) I hope you all get yours ASAP as well. If you've got $250 laying around, buy one and sell yours on eBay when you're done.

"We're pre-ordering a ton, so if you sign up now, and get your 5 complete referrals, you'll likely avoid the shortages and get one before your friends. " -Gratis's website....

True. Very true. Whether they intended to preorder but ended up running into some problems instead, I say they shouldn't have made such a boast if they were not 100% sure of what would happen. The statement they made about preorders was misleading and there's no excuse for that.
Being that I will be getting a free psp, I don't mind having to wait but I wish they were just more cautious about making claims about preorders.

Well I can't blame them fully. Same thing happened when I ordered Unreal Tournament 2004. The shipper for some reason had shortages and I had to wait 3 weeks to get the game. So it's not all Gratis' fault. I just wish they would post something about it on their site for the public to see. (

Phreepsps ran into some problems recently with their servers and they have been slow to update credit. However, unlike Gratis, they posted some info about the delay on their main website. I think its just good business and good customer service to let us know whats going on. Alot of people might calm down if gratis would just tell us all what exactly is happening on their main site and quit giving us the canned responses to our support tickets.

Yeah, I'm DONE with Gratis. My Mac Mini shipped, my XBox is processing (let's see how long I wait for that one), and so's my PSP. PhreePSPs and PSPs4Free seem to get lots of PSPs out there, why can't Gratis? Even PSPWorld admits that PSP sales haven't been as good as expected http//www.pspworld.com/playstation-portable/2005/03/31/sony-psp-sales
